Fafsa 2025 Application Open For Fall. For the second year in a row, the free application for federal student aid, commonly known as the fafsa, will be delayed. The education department announced today that the form is out of beta testing and ready for families to use.

Before you can start filling out the fafsa, you’ll need to create your account on the studentaid.gov website. Completing and submitting the fafsa is free and gives you access to the largest source of financial aid for school.
